The Begginings and University Merit



Born in Mexico City, Luz Butrón began her musical studies at the children’s school INPI. Later, she graduated in Singing at Escuela Nacional de Música ENM of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNAM in Mexico City. She was awarded the “GABINO BARREDA” Medal for University Merit in ENM UNAM under Maestro Enrique Jaso's Professorship.









Preparing and Master Classes



She studied Singing with Mtros. Enrique Jaso, Guadalupe Pérez Arias and Rufino Montero and Thusnelda Nieto.


She has attended Master Classes with the brilliant Mtros. Renata Scotto, Ramón Vargas, Aurelio Zarrelli, Luis Girón May, Gilda Cruz Romo, Susan Young, Joan Dornemann, Miguel Hernández Bautista, Carlos Serrano, Robert Schwendeman, Jesús Suaste, Joseph Cabré, Bradley Brookshire, Nico Castell, Charles Rickers and Enrique Carreón.








THE RECORDINGS




In her recordings, we find Mexican unpublished music by José de San Juan, Melesio Morales, Felipe Villanueva, Alfonso de Elías, Luis Sandi, Roberto Bañuelas, Julio César Oliva, Fernando Valdéz and Antonio Reguer, who dedicated his Ave María in F# Major especially for her.












THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL APPEARANCES



In 1996 she received a great ovation at the International Festival “Lomas de San Antonio” in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She repeated the success at the same city two years later, signing Reynosa’s Golden Book as a Distinguished Guest.. The City of San José of Costa Rica listened to her during the Independence of Mexico Celebrations in the City in San José, COSTA RICA. Based on the success of this performance, Ambassador Doña Maria Carmen Oñate invited her for later appearances in COSTA RICA.





THE SINGING CONTESTS


First Place in “Un día de Ópera” (One Day of Opera) Singing Contest (ENM), ENM UNAM; Second Place in X Singing Contest “Francisco Araiza,” ENM UNAM; Third Place in VII Edition of “Francisco Araiza” Contest; Finalist in National Singing Contest “CARLO MORELLI,” in its XII Edition and Semifinalist in I CONCURSO IBEROAMERICANO DE CANTO (Spain-Cuba-Mexico, organized by Mtro. PLÁCIDO DOMINGO).






FESTIVALS and other Activities


A former singer with “Soloists Ensemble of Fine Arts and co-founder of “Themis Ensamble” a camera group with soprano, guitar, flute and percussion, Luz Butrón has sung in a camera group named KIYANPAX, which in Mayan language means “harmony of the instruments.” Kiyanpax includes soprano, flute, piano and percussions. She has participated as soloist in numerous Festivals, among them: “International Festival of Young Soloists” ENM UNAM; Opera Festival “Ángel R. Esquivel” ENM, Lied Festival “María Bonilla” ENM, “Young Interpreters of Mexico” SOCICULTUR, México, “Festival del Centro Histórico” (Historic Center Festival) in Emeritus Normal School for Teachers, among others. Currently Miss Butrón sings, does research and coordinates unpublished Mexican music in collaboration with MCMAFN (Multi-Cultural Music and Art Foundation of Northridge) and she is also musical Director of Coro Vespertino IMSS “Manuel Avila Camacho”.






















NEXT ENGAGEMENTS


Her next engagements as soloist include performances in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Northridge and Pasadena in the United States of America, Costa Rica and Mexico.
